QB McNabb Returns To Practice

Donovan McNabb returned to the practice field at the NovaCare Complex on Monday, marking the first time the quarterback has participated in practice since tearing his right ACL against the Tennessee Titans on November 19.

"It felt great to get back out there on the field with all of the guys," said McNabb in a statement following practice. "It's just part of the rehab process and hopefully good things will continue to come. It is important to continue to monitor my progress, but also be smart about the whole situation." McNabb's participation in Organized Team Activities was limited, as the coaches took precautions to protect the franchise quarterback. Even so, coaches and players saw enough of McNabb to give the quarterback a positive review for his first on-field action in nearly seven months. "He looked great," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said immediately after practice. "You couldn't tell that he was gone. He's made differently I think." McNabb didn't appear at any point to favor his right leg or show any semblance of discomfort. That McNabb was able to get through his first practice without a major setback was paramount for running back Correll Buckhalter, who suffered a torn ACL in 2002. "For what he's been through, it's a big milestone for him," Buckhalter said. "I know what it's like. You want to do a little more than you should do at the time, so I know he had emotions going, and I know he felt that being back out there with the guys, he was real excited. All the guys were happy to see him back out there."
